Pay rise

A 5 percent raise does not mean 5 percent more in your bank account: social contributions, then income tax at your marginal rate, absorb part of it. Enter your salary and the proposed raise to see the real net gain, per month and per year.

How it works

Frequently asked questions

Why does a raise not fully reach my net pay?

Each extra euro of gross pay bears social contributions, then income tax at your marginal rate, your highest rate. An employee in the 30 percent bracket typically keeps 50 to 60 percent of it.

Raise or bonus?

For the same amount, a raise is recurring and lifts your base for the rest of your career; a bonus is one-off. The calculator prices the raise precisely.
