Shares and gift duties depend on your personal situation and on how the deed is drafted. This estimate does not replace a notary, who alone can secure the split. Indicative estimate, not tax or financial advice.
How it works
Frequently asked questions
How should ownership be split when buying together?
The fairest split mirrors what each partner actually finances: their down payment plus their share of the loan payments over the term. The calculator turns that into an ownership percentage.
Does the split need to be recorded?
Yes. For a joint purchase in France the shares appear in the notarial deed. A split that ignores real financing can create an imbalance on separation or resale.
What if one partner pays more than their share?
The gap may be treated as a gift or a debt between co-owners. Set consistent shares from the start, or formalise the difference in an agreement.
